biography

Dr. Kelsey Burton  is a Research Associate at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and a  passionate advocate for advancing health equity through community-driven  research. Her work focuses on addressing health disparities among  historically marginalized and minoritized groups, with a particular emphasis  on African Americans and HIV-related inequities. Throughout her academic  career, Dr. Burton has been dedicated to reducing racial health disparities  by contributing to initiatives that increase awareness, knowledge, and access  to HIV prevention resources, while actively combating stigma within  communities of color across the United States and Canada.

As a member of  the CREATE Team, Dr. Burton has led research projects such as conducting  crowdsourcing open calls, hosting designathons, spearheading research  participant recruitment efforts, and managing the implementation of CREATE  research initiatives to address COVID-19 inequities disproportionately  affecting African American communities. These efforts have strengthened her  project management skills and deepened her commitment to implementing  sustainable, community-driven solutions.
