Dr. Tanisha Burford is an Associate Professor of Psychology at NorthCarolina Central University (NCCU). A personality-health psychologist andhealth equity researcher, her research focuses on identifying and assessingpsychosocial stressors that contribute to poor health outcomes, and prematuredeath among Black individuals and those of low socioeconomic status (SES). Dr.Burford is particularly interested in measuring the effects of differentmanifestations of structural racism on physical and psychological health, aswell as identifying risk and protective factors in the context of stress. Hersecond line of research focuses on developing health behavior interventionsaimed at reducing cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and enhancing pandemicpreparedness and resilience among vulnerable populations.
